Ultrasound Exams   An Ultrasound is a high-energy sound wave that is bounced off material inside the human body. The echoes it makes form a picture of the body tissue called a sonogram which appears on the screen of an Ultrasound machine. Expert physicians who view it can then make well-informed diagnostic and treatment decisions. Listed below are the types of Ultrasound exams we routinely perform.

• Abdominal Aortic Ultrasound – Detects an aneurysm or stenosis of
  the abdominal aorta.
• Arterial Ultrasound – Identifies stenosis or aneurysm in the arteries of an extremity.
• Bypass Graft Ultrasound – Views a bypass graft to make sure the repair is working properly.
• Carotid Ultrasound – Locates stenosis in the carotid arteries, and also confirms the success of carotid surgery.
• Vein Mapping – Measures the size of a superficial vein in the leg or arm in preparation for surgical bypass.
• Venous Ultrasound – Uncovers deep vein thrombosis (DVT or blood clot), non-functioning valves, or compression (as in thoracic outlet syndrome) in
  the veins of the extremities.
