Small Vessel Disease
This is any disease in which small blood vessels suddenly spasm or constrict. Two familiar forms are Raynaud's disease and Buerger's disease, with usually affect small arteries in the hands and feet. These illnesses may be hereditary, or be caused by artery inflammation, frostbite injury, medications or smoking. Fingers and toes may appear blue or white and feel numb or painful. Symptoms worsen with cold or stress. It is important to keep the hands and feet warm to prevent problems.
